Applications for Entry into the Diploma in Adult Education and Youth in Development Work Programmes

Applications are open for the Diploma in Adult Education and Commonwealth Youth Programmes. University of Ghana online application e-vouchers can be obtained for GH¢180.00 from the following banks: Ecobank, HFC Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Zenith Bank, Merchant Bank, UniBank, Prudential Bank, GCB and Fidelity Bank. Applicants should follow the instructions given carefully. They should also note that their Application Serial Numbers and PIN may be needed at a future date and should therefore be kept in a safe place.

 

Applications must be submitted online by the deadline of Friday March 31, 2016.

 

Diploma in Adult Education

The Diploma in Adult Education will be offered on sandwich and distance learning basis on the main University Campus.  Students admitted will come into residence on the main University Campus at Legon during the long vacation: June to August 2016.  The Diploma in Adult Education (Sandwich Programme) is a comprehensive four semester (long vacation) programme that requires students to do field work, communicate with their lecturers and write observational reports in-between the long vacations.

 

Diploma in Youth in Development Work

The University of Ghana in collaboration with the Commonwealth Youth Programme (C Y P), Africa Centre Lusaka, Zambia and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ghana, offers a diploma programme in Youth in Development Work, a Commonwealth-wide initiative to train people engaged in youth and development activities.

 

The programme will be delivered through a supported distance learning mode. This is supported by occasional meetings with course tutors at designated study centres.  End of semester examinations will be conducted at the main campus of the University of Ghana, Legon.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR BOTH PROGRAMMES

 

Category A: Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations:

·         Credit passes (C6 or better for WASSCE and D or better for SSSCE holders) in three core subjects which must include English and Mathematics.

·         Credit passes in any two relevant electives

 

Applicants in this category will not be required to write an entrance examination.  Selection will be based on results submitted by the close of applications.

 

Category B:  Mature Applicants

Mature applicants aged 27 years and above by January 31, 2016 may apply.  Applicants in this category will be required to write and pass a competitive entrance examination to be conducted by the University of Ghana

 

Applicants are REQUIRED to take a preparatory course organized by the Department of Adult Education and Human Resource Studies, School of Continuing and Distance Education; University of Ghana at its Regional Learning Centres between February 20 and April 3 2016 to prepare them to write the Competitive Entrance Examination.  Only candidates who participate in the preparatory course will be eligible to take the entrance examination.

Entrance examinations for the two programmes will be held at 8.00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the N Block, University of Ghana, Legon.
