School of Continuing and Distance Education holds Workshop on Strategic Plan

The School of Continuing and Distance Education of the College of Education held a three-day workshop from 15th to 17th February to draw a five-year Strategic Plan for the School for the period 2017 - 2022.
Members of Faculty, Student Representatives of the School and representatives of TEWU and FUSSAG participated in the workshop.

Mr. Matthew Danquah of the Institutional Research and Planning Office of the University was the lead Resource Person, supported by officers of the College Administration. Topics covered included: Lessons from UG and College Strategic Plans; Financial Planning and Process Management; Student Enrolment and Strategic Planning; and Human Resource Development. Prof. Audrey Gadzekpo and Dr. Yaa Cole took participants through the areas of Gender and Diversity to assist them in drawing up the Plan.

There were four working groups which identified the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of the School. The groups where then tasked to develop strategic objectives and also find plausible solutions to the problems identified. These were to be within the purview of the ten core strategic objectives of the College of Education.
Key action plans were then developed with specific timelines. The strategic objectives of the School are:
i. Research
ii. Teaching and Learning
iii. Internal Stakeholders
iv. Student/Faculty/Staff Recruitment and Retention
v. Gender and Diversity
vi. Financial Planning and Process Management
vii. Asset Acquisition and Management
viii. Leveraging Information and Communication Technology
ix. Monitoring and Evaluation
x. External Linkages

Mr. Danquah called attention to the fact that the School is in keen competition with other institutions that offer programmes by Distance Education, and therefore a lot of work needed to be done to achieve the objectives set in the Strategic Plan.
