The vision of the School of Continuing and Distance Education (SCDE) is to pursue academic programmes and activities towards the realization of the potential growth that exists for investing in the expansion of adult, continuing and distance education programmes which would extend the reach of the University to student populations in formats which the traditional face-to-face classroom learning cannot provide. The following strategic goals are at the forefront in achieving the vision of the School of Continuing and Distance Education:

Goals:

  • Goal 1: Responding to the needs of adult learners through the use of technology for the development of essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes for lifelong learning.
  • Goal 2: Seeking international collaborations to improve standards, quality assurance and consistency in programme delivery.
  • Goal 3: Strengthening integrity of financial management and expand resource base with a business plan that will guarantee a positive return on investment.

The mandate of SCDE re-affirms the University of Ghana’s resolve to attain a world-class status by creating an enabling environment that makes the University a centre of attraction for cutting-edgeresearch as well as high quality teaching and learning. As a way forward, SCDE seeks to expand the development of Ghana’s human resource capabilities to meet the contemporary challenges of national development and global competition through the use of ICT, community outreach, inter-departmental and inter-university partnerships.
