The Provost of the College of Education, Professor Peter Quartey, recently engaged staff at a Staff                                  Durbar, where he outlined his vision and priorities for the College.

 The interactive session also gave staff the opportunity to share their perspectives, offer suggestions and                              contribute ideas towards shaping the College’s future with a focus on transformative student                                                experiences, impactful research, staff development, strategic partnerships and sustainable institutional                                growth.

Professor Peter Quartey, Provost of the College of Education, in outlining his vision, acknowledged the contributions and achievements of his predecessors, noting that his administration would build on the gains already made. He said his vision was guided by the University’s five strategic priorities: transformative student experience, impactful research, commitment to faculty and staff, engagement and partnership, and sustainable resource mobilisation and stewardship.

In his welcome remarks, the College Registrar, Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah said the durbar was an important platform for Provost to share his vision Provost with members of the College community. He urged faculty and staff to give Professor Quartey their full support and work collectively towards advancing the College.

Speaking at a staff durbar organised by the College, Professor Quartey said his vision was anchored in the five priority areas of the University of Ghana’s Strategic Plan and would build on the achievements of previous administrations. 

The durbar brought together faculty and staff both in-person and virtually, providing a platform for the Provost to share his vision and solicit the views and support of members of the College community.

He outlined initiatives under each priority aimed at strengthening teaching and learning, research, staff development and partnerships. Professor Quartey placed particular emphasis on creating a transformative experience for students and called for a culture of mutual respect among faculty and staff. He also assured members that his doors would remain open and encouraged them to share ideas and contribute to the College’s development. 

Professor Quartey further called for hard work, collaboration and collective responsibility, explaining that the College’s progress would depend on the willingness of its members to work together towards shared goals.

The engagement subsequently provided an opportunity for faculty and staff to contribute to the discussion, with members sharing suggestions and views on issues affecting the College. They also expressed their readiness to support the Provost and contribute to the successful implementation of his vision.

The durbar ended with a shared commitment to working collaboratively to build a stronger, more responsive and forward-looking College of Education.
