About

Samuel Amponsah is a Professor of Open Distance Learning (ODL), Inclusive Online Education and Curriculum Decolonisation, with a diverse career spanning Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, the USA, and the UK. He holds a Doctorate in Curriculum Studies and a Master of Education in Open Distance Learning, both from the University of South Africa, as well as a Master of Philosophy in Adult Education from the University of Ghana. Currently, Samuel leads the Distance Education Department at the University of Ghana, spearheading innovative approaches to accessible learning and the assurance of quality in digital education delivery. His practical leadership experience includes heading the Farming Management Department at Esayidi TVET in South Africa and teaching graduate courses at various higher education institutions. Samuel serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of South Africa and a Visiting Lecturer at Birmingham Christian College in the UK. His global collaborations include roles as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the American University in Cairo and a Visiting Fellow at Liverpool John Moores University. He is also a recognised GCRF and BECH-Africa-Andrew W. Mellon fellow, who has managed grants funded by reputable agencies such as the British Council, Global Challenges Research Fund and the University of Ghana Research Fund. A prolific scholar, Samuel is the Editor-in-Chief of the Multidisciplinary Journal of Distance Education Studies and has served as a Special Guest Editor for prestigious journals, including the British Journal of Educational Technology and the International Journal of Educational Research.
