On Tuesday, June 13th, 2023, the College of Education launched its activities as part of celebrations of the University of Ghana 75th Anniversary under the theme "Harnessing Employment and Entrepreneurship Prospects for University Graduates: Building Resilience and Embracing Technology".

Prof. Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe, Provost of the College of Education and Chair of the launch in his opening remarks noted that the theme intersects with the University of Ghana Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programme (UGEIP) which seeks to provide essential support services to students and alumni in cross-experiential settings to enhance their creativity and competitiveness in today’s complex world.

He stated that over the years, the University of Ghana had become a household name and a contributor towards the growth and development of Ghana and other nations. In light of this, he mentioned that “the College of Education is proud to be part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the University which is a significant milestone in its commitment to academic excellence and preparing graduates for successful careers.”

Additionally, Prof. Codjoe expressed his sincere gratitude to the College of Education, UG@75 anniversary Planning Committee for their excellent work in carrying out the mandate of the Committee.

During the launch, the Provost officially inaugurated the School/Unit and Departmental Liaisons as well as student journalists of the College of Education who have been tasked to increase the visibility and image of the College.

Subsequently, the Multi-Disciplinary Journal of Distance Education Studies (MDJES) was also launched during the event. In a brief remark, the Dean of the School of Continuing and Distance Education, Prof. Olivia A. T. F. Kwapong, indicated that the establishment of the Journal is a testament to the commitment to research excellence and belief in the power of scholarly distance education discourse.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Gordon S.K. Adika, Dean of the School of Education and Leadership, expressed gratitude to the Planning Committee, chaired by Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, Secretary of the College of Education for their hard work. He urged members of the University Community and friends of the College to support them for a successful and memorable commemoration.

The launch was attended by Deans, Ag. Principals, and Heads of Department/Units of the College as well as staff, faculty and students.

The College of Education has planned multiple activities to commemorate the celebration of the its 75th Anniversary. These activities include seminars, educational fairs, alumni engagement, policy development workshops, and exhibitions of scholarly works. Overall, the celebration of the College of Education activities is a positive step towards supporting students and alumni in their career and entrepreneurial pursuits
